BodyRock.tv – This site is where I first found out about High Intensity Interval Training or HIIT. BodyRock.tv is run by Freddy and Zuzana Light, a couple with a driving passion for health and fitness. This site is one of my main resources for my daily workouts and fitspiration (have you seen their BodyRockers page? So many fit individuals of all ages and races!). What I love about BodyRock is that their exercises are time efficient and can truly be done anytime, anywhere. This is a big plus for someone like me, who is literally always on the go (I travel a lot in my line of work) and as such is always pressed for time. Moreover, their workouts require minimal equipment; and for those who don’t have the needed gear, the exercises are easily modified or substituted to work using just one’s own body weight. Exercise excuses = Busted.
Blogilates.com – This site is my other fitness resource. Cassey Ho, who owns the blog, is a certified Pilates and fitness instructor as well as a designer of yoga bags. I use this site mainly for the Pilates workout videos (called POP Pilates) that Cassey herself creates. Like BodyRock, POP Pilates is short, requires very minimal equipment, and can be done anywhere.
Tabata Online Timer – If you have already checked out the BodyRock site, you’ll find that their most important exercise tool is the Gymboss Interval Timer. Since this is not easily available in the Philippines, I did a little bit of research and found this nifty timer on the internet. It’s sleek, easy to use, and does a fantastic job of timing my interval workouts. Most importantly, it’s FREE! The only downside to using the online timer is that I can’t use it when I have no internet connection.
